San Celeste Townhall - Mafia The Old Country

This piece represents the Town Hall, a central landmark in the heart of San Celeste, created as part of Mafia: The Old Country.

This location was a particularly meaningful challenge for us, as it was one of the very first environments we developed as a team. From the beginning, the goal for the exterior was to faithfully echo the version previously seen in Mafia II, while bringing it up to modern visual standards. At the same time, the interior layout was completely reworked to better support the needs of level design, balancing nostalgia with functionality.

During the development of this environment, I worked as Lead Environment Artist, guiding the team both technically and artistically. On the technical side, this involved helping establish workflows that would later be used across the project. Artistically, my focus was on maintaining a consistent quality bar and ensuring the environment aligned with the visual direction we were aiming for. We also embraced new technologies such as Unreal Engine 5 and Nanite, which allowed us to push detail and scale further than before.

It was a rewarding experience to shape one of the foundational locations of the project and to set the tone for the work that followed.

Special thanks to the entire environment team, and to our environment and art directors, for their support and collaboration throughout the development:
